Independant Study
While many teachers are familiar with the structure of an Independent Study and have been through the process with multiple students, it is still very likely that you will be the first student to ever request one from your teacher, or even the first in your school.
Attitudes towards gifted education and enrichment are balanced on a knifepoint between support and condemnation. For this reason, try to remember that your actions determine whether or not this opportunity will be available to others in the future.
If you don’t intend on completing the work, or meeting the deadlines, please don’t attempt an Independent Study. This isn’t meant as a lecture, just as a reminder that all it takes is one negative experience to convince a teacher that enrichment opportunities, for all students, are a waste of time.
